See that face?
Not the happiest! But that's how I've felt since last night, after spending a ton of time trying to figure out how to quilt the Pinless Pinwheel quilt.
I'm just about ready to give up and quilt a panto on it. Here's the issues:
1. if the pinwheels are the main focus, it means the background needs to be densely quilted for them to pop. Frankly, I don't want a dense background, for comfort's sake, and for lack of time to devote to that.
2. the block backgrounds, along with the sashing, don't make nice shapes. I've tried fills such as straight lines, swirls, leaves, shells, triangles, stippling, etc but nothing says 'yes!' And the size needs to be smaller than the pinwheels, which means dense.
3. the last option to try is individual designs for the three different blocks. Those are in the picture below.
While this has promise, I still have issues of filling in the background, and finding a complementary sash design.
See why I'm ready to go the panto route? On this one, I feel that's such a cop out, but sometimes it just has to be done. I'll give it a few more drawings, and if nothing speaks to me, I'm on to a panto.
Have a wonderful weekend!
